September 29, 2021

DESCRIPTION:

Relationships can be challenging. We all have our own values, preferences, quirks, and pet peeves. So, how can we relate without stepping on one another’s toes? And how do we say “no” to people we care about when we need to do so? “No” is an important word in any relationship. Saying “no” means taking ownership over yourself and your time. This episode welcomes Jillian Christy, a couples’ relationship coach. Join us as we discuss the importance of boundaries and how they can enhance every type of relationship.

A SIP OF “THE TEA”

(Jillian on the power of saying “no”.)

EPISODE SUMMARY:

Even in our relationship as mother and daughter, we’ve found that creating and setting boundaries is a learning process. As a person grows and evolves, so do their boundaries. Communicating these changes can sometimes be challenging.

Having boundaries is often seen as being selfish, or narcissistic, or domineering. However, it’s quite the opposite. Boundaries are a good thing. Creating boundaries leads to more self-awareness, more satisfaction, less anger, and less resentment.

However, one’s boundaries don’t outrank the the other person’s boundaries. Both people in a relationship have their own set of values, and they should be respected. It’s also of the utmost importance to always communicate with your loved one in a loving, respectful, and understanding way. Communication can lead to positive relational breakthroughs, that can leave both parties feeling like they’ve won and were heard, rather than dismissed.

In this episode, our guest, Boundaries Coach, Jillian Christy, coaches us on how we can reclaim who we are by defining our boundaries and living vibrantly.

IN TODAY’S CONVERSATION WE HEAR:

  • How to setup and maintain boundaries
  • Why “No.” is a complete sentence
  • Why boundaries are important
  • What happens when boundaries aren’t respected
  • The elements of a healthy relationship

…And, much more!

Enjoy the “Tea”,

Nia (& Deb)
