We’re spilling some “spiritual” tea this week on Real Talk. In this fourth installment of our Change Your Mind (SuperSleep) theta brain mini-series we are having a non-denominational chat on the impact our unconscious minds has on our spirituality. Can we actually develop or deepen our spiritual connection as we sleep? Join us as leading expert on the brain and performance, Teri Mahaney, PhD shares her perspective, research and experience on the topic. (This four-part series covers: The Theta Brain, Relationships, Empowerment/Success and Spirituality.)

(Dr. Teri defines spirituality.)
With almost 8 billion people in the world, it’s hard to reconcile why we all feel alone at some point in our lives. For many, it’s a feeling of disconnection. This can lead to feelings of loneliness and even despair. There are those who felt this even more profoundly during the recent pandemic lockdowns.
The suggested solutions for this state of mind and being are many. Some offer the idea of being present in every “right now” moment as a way of connecting more deeply and banishing the blues in order to feel more whole. Others stress the importance of creating community, getting out of our own heads, and helping others to create more purposeful connections.
We think that these are all excellent ideas. Yet, there’s one that we believe can create a deeply powerful sense of connection that might even under-gird the others. We feel developing a powerful spiritual life can be life-changing. As out-of-the-box humans ourselves, we would never define what that means for any individual. We are not referring to religion. We’re talking relationship with something outside of ourselves that not only enhances life’s meaning, but also offers a sense of consistent connection and purpose regardless of one’s circumstances.
That is, in part, what made our tea-time with Dr. Teri so special. We didn’t debate dogma or impose our personal beliefs. It is a conversation we hope will encourage people to explore the topic of spirituality for themselves and enable them to find a unique, nourishing expression that results in a life that feels more peaceful, meaningful and joyful.
We also learned that sometimes historical theta brain messages could be keeping us from having a spiritual relationship that is more in alignment with who we are—not who we may have been conditioned to be.
So, whether you’re a Christian, a Muslim, a Jew, practice some other belief system, celebrate being one with all things or choose not to define yourself at all, we think this is a conversation worth hearing. Who knows, you may actually “Change Your Mind”!
IN TODAY’S CONVERSATION WE:
…And much more!
