Clutter can be disease-like in nature. One moment, it was just a little pile of papers. Then, at some point, you realize the papers have multiplied and become a disorganized mess that takes up more than its fair share of space in your home or office. Now what? For far too many of us, when it comes to clutter, the struggle is real!
Sometimes, you’ll hear people define a messy workspace as a sign of brilliance and intellect. “Well look, Einstein had clutter and was disorganized…and he was a genius!”. However, as Dn. Joe Ferrari, PhD points out in this weeks’ episode, “You ain’t no Einstein!” And, unfortunately, our propensity for collecting doesn’t match our desire to release what we no longer use or need.
In addition, it turns out that clutter may not just be visually disturbing; it can also negatively affect our lives, focus, and emotional wellbeing. For the past 5 years, Dn. Joe and his fellow researchers have conducted studies on home clutter, office clutter, and digital clutter. They are trying to determine the impact each has on our psyches. What they have discovered thus far may offer insight into how we can regain control over our homes and workspaces.
Join us today, as Dn. Joe shares their findings and data and breaks down the “hows”, “whys” and impact of clutter on our lives, and explains what we can do to successfully declutter.
