(don Miguel, Jr. on mastering death.)
We’ve referenced the unique and intriguing work of the Ruiz family many times on Real Talk. We love and have personally benefited from the profound knowledge that can be found at the heart of Toltec Wisdom. And we are not alone, countless others have been blessed, including many of our past guests.
In this episode, we had the privilege of having don Miguel Ruiz, Jr. join us for tea. To say that it was an amazing and thoroughly enjoyable experience would be an understatement. Miguel Jr.’s ability to demystify Toltec Wisdom is eclipsed only by his genuine warmth. engaging personality and masterful storytelling.
Miguel Jr.’s book, The Mastery of Self, builds on the foundation of The Four Agreements (written by his father). It challenges us to examine why we think and believe the things we do. Are they really true for us, or part of the Dream of the Planet? The Mastery of Self offers a perspective that encourages us to emotionally travel outside of our comfort zone and into a space of unconditional love-first for ourselves and then for others.
What we especially love about the book is that it is an accessible read and an interactive (great for those who love to journal) and actionable process. You just may see (and love) yourself in a whole new way.
As we reflected on our conversation with Miguel Jr., we were delightfully struck by some emerging themes shared by others in previous episodes. Truth is truth. According to Miguel, this journey, this way of living, is “easier said than done “and “you hold the power over your reactions”. He reminded us that vulnerability is crucial to becoming a master of self. Challenging as the journey may be, he reassured us that the rewards are great.
While we were fully satisfied with our time together, there were questions that time did not allow us to ask. So, we are delighted that he will join us for tea again!
